Did you know that hormone replacement in menopause is preventive medicine!? After menopause (12 months since your last menstrual period), menopause hormone therapy (MHT) can be continued to alleviate symptoms that started during perimenopause. But there are also important preventive health benefits to continuing or starting MHT after menopause.

Benefits of MHT After Menopause - Health Maintenance and Prevention:

  • Preserve muscle mass

  • Prevent or slow bone loss (osteoporosis), this is most helpful when MHT is started within 1-2 years of menopause

  • Treatment of vaginal dryness, painful intercourse

  • Urinary symptoms such as frequency, urgency and leaking
